Are You Napkin-ding Me?
As month-of coordinators, it’s our job to put the finishing touches on your wedding day. By the time we come on board, you’ve got the big picture details- your vendors, your color palette, perhaps you have a vision for your floorplan. But at the time we come on board, 99% of our clients don’t know the answer to a very important question:
How do you want your napkin folded?
That’s right. Napkin folds. Let’s get SEXY up in here.
Let’s be real- when you dream of your wedding day, if the way you want your napkin to be folded is what you are thinking of, then let’s really revisit wedding priorities. That being said, they are PROMINENT in your dining room display and can really change the look and feel of your reception. And there are exactly three thousand ways to fold a napkin, and a million variations on top of that when you integrate menus, placesettings and plates, so it can be a really unexpected stressor if having to decide without guidance.
Below, we’ve laid out some of our favorite napkin options from our previous weddings. Which is your favorite? Are we missing your favorite? Let us know!
THE KNOT
It’s the hottest of the hot and we are here for it!
THE HORIZONTAL WRAP
WE LOVE A NAPKIN THAT KNOWS HOW TO HOLD ITS OWN! ON A WINDY DAY, JUST SLIDE YOUR MENU UNDER THE FOLD, AND VOILÀ—EVERYTHING STAYS NEATLY IN PLACE.
(you can also ADD A SALAD PLATE to the mix for a little bit of extra depth and texture!)
THE POCKEt fold
For those who like a place for everything with no chance of blowing away!
the diagonal Pocket fold
THINK OF IT AS THE COOL, EDGY COUSIN OF THE CLASSIC POCKET FOLD above. IT DOES EVERYTHING THE REGULAR ONE CAN—BUT WITH A LITTLE EXTRA FLAIR!
THE TRI-FOLD, WITH ACCESSORIES
Keep your cost down with a simple napkin and jazz it up with place cards, greenery, or both!
THE CUMMERBUND
Named after the formal men’s attire, this napkin fold is perfect for any event where cummberbunds are worn.
THE SILVERWARE POCKET
Short on table space or getting married on A moving boat? Save space and sanity with a silverware pocket!
THE FLAT TRIANGLE
The modern sister to the pyramid fold. Stay simple but edgey with an angular napkin!
The flat triangle with menu
get even edgier by adding a menu and a little bit of volume!
THE SQUARE
Simple while unique, it’s best used with a lightweight, pliable fabric!
THE WATERFALL
Add extra contrast to tables and show off a pop of color!
THE WATERFALL (OVER THE PLATE)
Whether no plate, over the plate, under the plate or on the side, we love a good waterfall.
