Why You Need a Wedding Coordinator
ENTER LAUREN (she steps on soapbox).
Hello everyone. Recognizing wedding coordination as a legitimate professional service is something I feel incredibly strong about (yeah, no shit Lauren, you’re a wedding coordinator). But no matter how many times we say it, it continues to bear repeating. So today, I wanted to remind you, just exactly why you need a wedding coordinator.
We aren’t your Aunt Carol.
As wedding professionals, we aren’t your Aunt Carol or a “family friend is helping us out”. We are the Super{humans} of your wedding day (or your Inspector Gadgets, Iron{humans}, or Ms Frizzles {yes, she is a superhero})
We are worth your budget.
And yes, we are a budget item. But when I hear that couples are foregoing a planner or coordinator, it hurts my heart. Mostly for the couple, as I know their day will be impacted without a professional onsite, but also for the wedding planning/coordination industry, as it’s another example of being looked at as a variable and not as a necessity.
Especially in today’s world, as highlighted in this New York Times article, gathering is harder than ever. Rules and regulations around events are changing on a dime and there are more logistics to coordinate than ever (what’s up vendor sign-in sheets and pre-event guest testing). It’s quite frankly impossible to navigate the current Covid landscape without some professional assistance.
Focus on the intangibles.
When planning a wedding, you can find yourself focusing on the tangible (florals, catering, rentals)- of course these elements are important and when you look back on your wedding photos- you’ll actually SEE them. But at the end of the day, above all else, you will remember your thoughts, feelings, emotions. And we can help you make those clear and beautiful.
If at all possible- make room in your budget for logistical assistance. I know money is terrifying. We promise we won’t gouge you. We value our worth, therefore we price ourselves accordingly. We are fair, cost efficient and I promise, you will value our worth as well.
Some super powers are hard to see.
Hire yourselves a wonder coordinator. Let us save your wedding.
