REAL WEDDING: Jessie + Abe's Traveling Wedding at Lula Cafe & Avondale Bowl
Jessie and Abe's wedding was #GOALS. Taking a cue from the "progressive dinner" style, these two had a "traveling wedding," moving to three different locations throughout their wedding day. Having a "progressive wedding" has a different meaning in this industry!
With three locations throughout the day, Jesse and Abe made their day exactly RIGHT for who they are as people- they wanted a small sentimental ceremony, none of the BS, and a big party! They started with a micro-ceremony on the rooftop of their building with 16 immediate family members. They then moved to Lula Cafe for a gorgeous dinner for 50 of their extended family, before shuttling all 50 folks to a 90+ person bowling/dancing party extravaganza at Avondale Bowl!
By moving locations and growing in guest count, Jessie and Abe could utilize each of these locations for exactly what they were made for, not having to make space negotiations and really leaning into the special qualities of each space. (It'd be hard to have an intimate dinner party at Avondale Bowl and you sure can't bowl at Lula Cafe).
For the ceremony, Jessie and Abe used rugs from their house. For Lula Cafe, Jessie personally embroidered each napkin and had darling pops of color in bud vases and candles. For Avondale Bowl, they had Malort, pie, and a flash tattoo artist onsite! No better time for Bride's first tattoo than her wedding night!
One of our favorite parts of this wedding was the fun logistical challenge that our team had with coordinating three venues, all with separate vendors, that all allowed us to load-in at different times. We LOVE that shit. Big dorks.
